Wear Your Music is a company with a philosophy focusing on a love for music
and a desire to contribute to more than their own pocketbooks.
The company is the brainchild of Steve Bernstein and Hannah Garrison.
Attempting to bridge the gaps between fashion, music, and philanthropy, it has
created two similar, but distinct, lines of music related jewelry.
The original line, The Wear Your Music Artist Bracelet, is an idea carried over
from Garrison’s previous experience with guitar string jewelry. The bangle-style
bracelets, crafted from guitar strings donated by over 150 artists (such as Eric
Clapton, Jack Johnson, Bonnie Raitt, and Ani DiFranco, to name a few), are sold on
the Wear Your Music website, with 100% of profits going to the charity of the artists’
choice.
The overwhelming response to the artist bracelets inspired the two to release a
lower priced line of unisex, one-size-fits-all bracelets. The Wear Your Music Fashion
Bracelets, which are available in 7 colors, have been hugely successful and a portion
of the profits is donated to charity.
Both the Artist Program and the Fashion Program have received warm
receptions by media outlets such as People, InStyle, Time Out NYC, Pitchfork.com and
MTV. Music fans on 4 continents have snatched up bracelets from their favorite
artists, and the artists themselves have given the project an exceptionally warm
response.
In slightly under 3 years, the company and both projects have raised nearly a
half-million dollars and counting, and with more artists joining every day---there are no
signs of Wear Your Music slowing down.
Further information on the project is available on the website and both
Bernstein and Garrison are available for comment.
